Scripture for funeral prayer cards
John 16:22
“So also you have sorrow now, but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you.”
It is for the funeral service we are attending today, whether it be a spouse, friend, or family member that you are here for today. You are all grieving someone you thought would accompany you here on earth forever.
Today is the day your life will forever be changed. However, change is not always bad. You can still see the sunny days that your person is united with Jesus Christ.
Your joy has not been robbed today. You will soon come face to face with your dear friend and the almighty God standing hand in hand, awaiting your arrival for the resting place. Amen.
Proverbs 3:5-6
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”
Dear Lord, I know we are not to question your timing or placement of who you take away from this place. I stand firm in my hope that you call those home early who were not meant to endure the ways of the world for so long. It is hard to accept that one person is gone today when I imagined a lifetime of experiences with them. It is not meant for me to understand or find answers.
They were following a path that led them straight to your Kingdom. I rest knowing their resting place is in the house of the Lord. Where no suffering, harm, or evil can be overcome. Amen.
Revelation 21:4
“He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”
O Lord, today we are here to mourn a life we all cherished so dearly. Many people at this memorial service have lost a part of themselves and are trying to figure out their life from here. I’m holding onto your promised land where you will wipe every tear, and God will remove every pain.
You are the everlasting light that shines when we are drowning in our sorrow. In a gloom-filled room, we can smile at the happy memories we each hold. May your perfect joy rain over us today to lift the soul of Christ within each of us. Amen.
John 14:1-3
“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.”
O divine master, you have prepared many rooms for the little children you created and raised to be women and men in Christ. We sit here troubled by the loss at this funeral service. Your amazing grace sets our eyes on the stopping place awaiting our assigned departure.
We all have different journeys that will still lead us to eternal life with you. This person’s sacred heart led them into the house of the Lord with whistles and blows announcing their arrival. In God’s land, every appearance is celebrated as we celebrate this life together. Amen.
Isaiah 25:7-8
“And He will swallow up on this mountain the covering that is cast over all peoples, the veil that is spread over all nations. He will swallow up death forever; and the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces, and the reproach of His people He will take away from all the earth, for the Lord has spoken.”
This funeral service is for the death of our beloved friend that we lost at the most troublesome time. In times of sorrow, we question God and ourselves about what more we could have done. I firmly hope it is not ours to carry or ask such a burden.
They have died to live again with our Heavenly Father. Death is no longer in a place of eternal life where the sun never stops shining. So, wipe away your tearful eyes and reflect on the happy times the Lord has given you with them. Amen.
Philippians 3:21
“who will transform our lowly body to be like His glorious body, by the power that enables Him even to subject all things to Himself.”
Dear God, we lost a beautiful soul today to transform into the entrance of your Kingdom. You called them home for their resting place to be relieved from the troubles of this world. They are now my little angel above, watching and guiding my every step.
God’s land has residence for you and me. My evening star has settled into their stopping place, where I am looking to go home one day. In times of sorrow, I see the glorious apostle transforming lives to prepare them for their time of eternal rest. Amen.
Romans 14:8
“For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s.”
Almighty God, we have viewed death as an unfortunate event that continues to take place in the most troublesome times. I now see it from your view of calling your little children home to their Father. A resting place to bring them back to you where they truly belong in your perfect joy of presence.
Many tearful eyes see a gloom-filled room, and I know a room missing a loved one who had to go back home to eternal rest. This person is now living in God’s garden of love and perfection. Death is not seen there; I now know a person reborn above us all. Amen.
1 Thessalonians 1:2
“We give thanks to God always for all of you, constantlya] mentioning you in our prayers,”
Heavenly Father, I thank you for the time you allowed us to have with this person. As sad as it is to say goodbye, it fills me with happy times that I got as much time as you allowed for this remarkable person and me. I will forever cherish and hold onto the beautiful memories of all my life.
I will forever give thanks to this loved one for having such an impact on my life, even with their physical presence gone. We all have different journeys when we are called back home, and this person will continue to stick with me through my right path. Amen.

John 16:33
“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
Heavenly Father, peace is with you; that is the only place I find it. This world is full of evil ways that will destroy and attempt to break me. When I look to the Father who has overcome it all, I find rest in my life.
Peace remains in me amidst my hard days. I cannot change the world’s ways, but I can bring Christ Jesus to my world. I will stay in the perfect joy that my God has the ultimate power and say over my life, nothing else. Amen.
Philippians 4:13

Dear Father, the most troublesome times test my faith as my faithful servant. I continue to learn to give you my difficult situation when I fret and cry out for answers. I reassure myself that this weight is not necessary for me to carry.
Lord God, you release me from the world’s heaviness. I am not proving anything by allowing this pressure to hold me down. I let myself give it all to you to see your sunny days again. The Holy Cross shows me that you will carry it all for me to be released and renewed by your amazing grace. Amen.
Ecclesiastes 3:1-4
“For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:
a time to be born, and a time to die;
a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted;
a time to kill, and a time to heal;
a time to break down, and a time to build up;
a time to weep, and a time to laugh;
a time to mourn, and a time to dance;”
O Lord, in the days of my life, there is a time for everything to capture the beautiful moments of my life. Your magnitude has remained permanent in my life through all seasons. I have been reborn again in Christ when my soul sets and decides to heal and overcome obstacles.
Now is my time for the set of footprints to indent in areas I have avoided. I am the everlasting light shining on the right path that I am walking and fulfilling today. You have wiped away my tears, and now I can start to heal. Amen.
Mark 12:30-31
“And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”
Heavenly Father, this commandment is one that I strive towards every day. The undying love that I have for you is one that I have to uphold with others. I am to show others your love through my actions with them and for them. Please remove my worldly qualities of judgment, ridicule, and hatred.
Christ meant my sacred heart to love others and lift them with every fiber in my body. The glorious apostle has created my strength to love and honor others through him. My soul is set on loving everyone I intend to nurture and restore. Amen.
Psalm 121:1-8

Behold, He who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is your keeper; the Lord is your shade on your right hand. The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all evil; He will keep your life. The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore.”
Father God, thank you for watching my every move. Your head of protection has saved me from a dark path I could have led myself into shamefully. You have closed doors on me that I should never have even been knocking on. My most troublesome times are ones I was clueless about on your behalf, working behind closed doors.
You are a merciful God helping me from the highest place. I am in awe of all the help you graciously give me daily. May your Holy Spirit continue to fill the areas I arrive in daily. Amen

My family chain has control over their lives, and I want to break this generational chain. I surrender myself and my choices to the almighty God. My perfect joy can only be found when giving it all to you, Father God. You fill me up with peace of light and joy of spirit. Amen.

Isaiah 57:1-2
“The righteous man perishes, and no one lays it to heart; devout men are taken away, while no one understands. For the righteous man is taken away from calamity; he enters into peace; they rest in their beds who walk in their uprightness.”
O Lord, this was a respectable person that deserved so much more than the time of war. The path of his life was a noble and well-deserved one serving his country. He chose to make a difference in Christ and his people. His stopping place was returning home to His Father.
After many battles, a once tired face walked into the Lord’s house. He knew his resting place would be the Kingdom receiving his due diligence of badge and honor for all he served. Amazing grace saved a soul such as this one for everyone to have known and loved. Amen.
2 Timothy 4:7-8
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing.”
Dear Lord, the good fight has been fought until the very end. His last days were filled with the good deeds of his community. He lived by faith and not by the sight of what he received in return for doing for others.
The path of righteousness led him into your Kingdom to see your face. What a sunny day that was to be welcomed into paradise. His crown awaited him for working towards your glory. With tearful eyes, we look up at you and Him holding hand in hand. Amen.

I have firm hope that his soul sets in eternal rest. I long to see him and will use our beautiful memories as faith in you to direct my life. I will view my time here as a borrowed time of devoting it all to you and my dear friend. Amen.
Prayer cards for healing
Isaiah 38:16-17
“O Lord, by these things men live, and in all these is the life of my spirit. Oh restore me to health and make me live! Behold, it was for my welfare that I had great bitterness; but in love you have delivered my life from the pit of destruction, for you have cast all my sins behind your back.”
Father God, I am restored by the power of your name. You have built me up again with my sins in the past behind the scars on your back. I am a small child standing before a big God who restores what once was broken inside me.
I have questioned my suffering and know it was part of your plan to save who I am. My golden heart remains suffering and healing. The quiet birds clear my head to hear your voice that I am at peace. Amen.

The path of righteousness is forgiveness and allowing myself to be free from this attack on me. I am allowed to be happy to see the sunny days ahead. I am on the right path to healing with tearful eyes and a smile, knowing this is what it looks like for me. Amen.
Psalm 23:1-3
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.”
Dear Lord, you lie me down in green pastures away from the world’s wickedness. I am sheltered by the highest who protects me from it all. The right path is quieting the noise around me and fixing my gaze on you.
I lack for nothing when focusing on the good fight you have placed amongst me. The time of war is now for me to overcome where I am and will soon be. I am facing this for a reason to pursue my ultimate purpose of peace in you, Lord God. Amen.
1 peter 2:24
“He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.”
Jesus Christ, my sins have been forgiven and washed away. Your wounds made this possible for me to release all my mistakes and wrongs. You released me from the weight of my wrongs to become renewed again in Christ Jesus. The Lord God paved the path of righteousness for me to walk without my shame any longer.

I surrender this to you. It stops me from healing and letting go. I know that by my wounds, God will heal them in your mighty name. The good times are ahead when I am faithful to you and reach out for your help and healing. Heal my brokenness and restore my golden heart. Amen.

Jesus Christ, you give strength to my tired face. I am searching for your helping hand to provide me with a sense of relief or a break. I am fighting the good fight with my full suit of armor in place. I need the soul of Christ to break this family chain.
The rapture of that meeting shakes me to fight and heal my inner demons. I ask you to fight off anything in my life that is not for you and that I have so unhealthy clung onto you for assurance. I only want your thoughts, wants, and desires, not mine. Amen.
