We have brave men and women who care for us and keep us safe. They are the governing authorities in our town. This gives them great power, but with that power comes great responsibility.
They face difficult decisions each day, and they need your wisdom.
Today, many people speak negatively about our officers. This makes life even harder for our brave men and women.
They need our respect and our prayers.
Whenever I hear a police siren, I always stop what I am doing and pray for those responding to the situation.
Here are 13 prayers with Bible verses that you can pray over your police officers.
Philippians 2:4: Community needs safety with police officers
Let each of you look not only at his own interests but also at the interests of others.
Dear God, we come today asking for help to meet the community’s needs. Many in our community are hurting and need the loving care of a smile and grace that our officers can give them.
They will meet hurting people on a daily basis.
As they come across people with a heavy heart facing a difficult time, help them to see the people God created.
As they help the law-abiding citizens in the community give them the ability to be a representative of your love.
May the people who come with a broken heart find a place of healing when they interact with our local police department.
We pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen
Joshua 1:9: Safety at work from danger
It is God who arms me with strength and keeps my way secure.
Almighty God, we come to you pleading for our local police officers’ safety in the workplace. We ask for the safety of police officers today. God, please bring them home each night safely.
We need the almighty protection of God. Our officers are facing selfless service every day, and they need your protection, God.
We ask that you place a hedge of protection around our officers.
So many times we hear of officers dying in the line of duty. We ask that no family member receive that notification today.
We plead our own prayer of protection in the powerful name of Jesus. Amen
Isaiah 32:18: Peace in the home after a hard day at work
My people will live in peaceful dwelling places, in secure homes, and in undisturbed places of rest.
Merciful God, we come asking you to bring peace into the homes of our law enforcement officers.
For those with a family member in the police force, help them to have the patience to meet the emotional needs of those returning from difficult situations.
Many officers have a hard time leaving the pain of the job. We ask that each officer come home and bring peace and harmony into the home.

Luke 10:19: Protection on the job
I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.
We come today to the throne of God, asking you to protect our fellow officers while they are on the job today. There will be evil spirits trying to hurt our police officers. We ask you God to protect us against evil
From a simple traffic stop to breaking up a fight. Our first responders can face sudden, risky situations.
We ask that you keep them safe during each situation. Give protection over our police departments during dangerous situations.

Luke 1:79: Guidance from the Holy Spirit
to shine on those living in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the path of peace.
Lord God, we all need guidance, and we ask that you allow the Holy Spirit to guide our brave police officers today as they work in the community.
Each officer is God’s servant, and when controlled by the Holy Spirit, they can be the hands and feet of Jesus.
Please give your guidance throughout the day in each situation.

Isaiah 54:17: Protection from lies.
No weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and this is their vindication from me,” declares the LORD.
Heavenly Father, we come today asking for protection against the people who will lie about police officers.
The media in the United States can make things difficult with their lies. All challenging situations can be painted in a way that portrays officers negatively.
Our officers need protection from the lies of a group of people who want to see them fail. Please allow the truth to prevail in each circumstance.
We ask this in the name of our everlasting King. Amen.
Psalm 61:2-3: Asking God for protection with PTSD
From the end of the earth, I call to You when my heart is faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I. You have been a refuge for me, a tower of strength against the enemy.
Holy Father, there are police officers dealing with the effects of trauma.
The situation seems impossible and dire. I don’t know how to find a solution. God, you are the source of comfort that we need.
Far too many officers have taken their own lives after facing the effects of PTSD. Give them the courage to speak out and tell others what they need. Let them know that they are not alone.
Show them they are loved and needed.
We pray this in Jesus’ Name. Amen
Matthew 5:9: Discernment in difficult situations
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.
Dear Lord, our officers have to make choices that are life-or-death decisions.
Each little choice could lead to the death of someone or to their own death. Our officers need discernment to help them make the right choice.
There are times when they will feel there is no right answer in a difficult situation.
Grant them the clarity they need to know what needs to be done.
We ask this in your powerful name. Amen
James 1:5: Wisdom in choices
If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.
O Lord, we need your wisdom today. Our officers need your wisdom and grace.
Give them the knowledge they need to make the wise decisions.
Wisdom is the greatest gift you can give. We ask that each officer have wisdom in abundance.
You said in your word that you would give wisdom in abundance to anyone who asked.
We are asking today for this gift.
We come before your throne and plead this in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
2 Corinthians 12:9: Grace when they fail
My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.
Lord Jesus Christ, we need your grace. Many times we fail, and for officers, when we fail, it is worse. There will come a time when our officers will make mistakes.
Those mistakes could lead to horrific situations.
We ask that you give grace when this happens, and that in the weakness of failure, you will show the officer your power.

1 Peter 1:9: Salvation for their soul
Obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls
God of peace, we come today and ask for the salvation of the officers. For the Christian officers, we pray that you Increase our faith and give us strength.
Without salvation, there will be no Holy Spirit to guide and protect our officers. We ask that you help them understand salvation and choose to follow you.
In the name of our Savior. Jesus. Amen.
Philippians 4:6-7: Mental Health
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus
God, after seeing so many difficult things, officers need spiritual healing. Our officers will see traffic accidents, domestic violence, human trafficking, or street violence. When they see these things the effects are emotional and spiritual pain.
We ask that you keep our officers mentally healthy. Give them the courage to ask for help when they need it.
Help them to see the good in people when they start to believe there is no good. Show them your love.

James 1:5: Quick Decisions
If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.
Dear Holy Father, There are times when our police officers have to make a sudden life-altering choice. A split-second decision that will affect the lives of many different people.
We ask that when tough decisions have to be make quickly that you will help our officers make the right call.
During the heat of the moment many people make bad choices, give our officers a calm spirit so they can make the right decisions quickly.
God, please grant a good outcome to the quick decisions police officers are forced to make each day.
