5 Bible Verses about God's Prayer Warriors will Remind Us to Use this Powerful Tool

I have people in my life who are prayer warriors. Those people are the ones I go to when I need someone to stand with me in prayer. The Word of God tells us to put on the full armor of God so that we can stand against Satan. Prayer is part of the armor.

The Holy Spirit is our guide and will walk with us through our trials. Christ Jesus prayed when he was here on earth. His prayer life was important in His spiritual battles. If even Jesus Christ knew he needed the power of prayer, then who are we to start our day by spending time in prayer and reading God’s word?

The Bible says the prayer of a righteous person is able to accomplish much. If you want the peace of God, and if you want to know what the will of God is, then start your day by talking to your heavenly father.

Here are some verses to help you get started in your prayer life. I pray these scripture quotations will give you engagement.

Ephesians 6:10-18 Prayer is a weapon for the warrior

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.  Put on the whole armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore, put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”

When I taught  Children’s programs this is a passage of scripture I always made sure to have the children memorize. In our evil day, we have to show the next generation the great power that is available to us in the name of Jesus. There are all kinds of attacks that our children will face.

It is a much harder world for our children to grow up in than it was for us when we were that age. Our children need to know God’s power is available to them. Not only do our children need to know this, but we also need to be reminded of this as well. God’s people need to use this weapon of prayer to fight in the battle we are in today.

There are so many different kinds of prayers. Prayers for peace, for strength, or for wisdom. The important thing is that we don’t miss our prayer time each day. As we enter spiritual warfare that we will face each day, we need to be prepared for the good fight of faith.

1 Timothy 6:12 Public prayer gives strength to the community.

1 Timothy 6:12 images pictures quotes

“Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.”

We need to pray with others and on behalf of others. There was a time when the church would meet at least once a week to pray together. The church would meet together to seek the power of God for the church family. The good things done in God’s kingdom were done by the power of prayer.

But there was more that happened when we would meet together to pray. When you pray there is a renewing of your mind. As a church, we needed that each week. Today not many churches still have weekly prayer meetings.

But we should still meet together to pray. We don’t have to meet in the church building to pray. And we don’t have to pray as individual churches. Christians from different churches can meet together to pray in public. That is a powerful testimony.

Some public schools have prayer meetings around the flagpole for their students. Some parents have prayer walks around the school. Both of these are important, and we should do this. Praying in public with witnesses shows that we believe in the strength of his might, and we will fight against the schemes of the devil.

When my children were younger, I would walk and pray. I would pray over the park where the children played, over the baseball field where our teams would compete, and over the building where our town meetings would take place. These prayers were to fight against the powers of darkness in our town.

1 Peter 5:8 The Devil is prowling, but the power of prayer will stop him from devouring us

1 Peter 5:8 images pictures quotes

“Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.”

Living in this present darkness is difficult. There was a time when we did not think about the devil prowling around looking to devour someone. But today we can see that not only is the devil prowling, but he is also devouring many people.

The world is constantly moving in the direction of hell. But we know that in hard times we find peace at the feet of Jesus. The best way for us to fight is on our knees. God is more powerful than Satan, and that is something we should not forget. We are on the winning side. So, stand tall and brave knowing your prayers are the weapon that Satan fears the most.

When you are facing the devil don’t stand on your own. Use the weapon of prayer and allow the Holy Spirit to fight your battles for you.

2 Corinthians 10:4 Prayer is the weapon that will break down our strongholds.

2 Corinthians 10:4 images pictures quotes

“For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds.”

This is another verse to remind us of God’s power. When we have prayer requests for friends or when they share prayer requests with us we are standing together in the battle. What are strongholds? These are defense places or high towers.

In war, these are the places to go for refuge because they are hard to defeat. But Satan can put strongholds on us as well. He can create struggles in our lives that are hard to defeat. This could come in the form of addictions, pride, or anger

If there is something you are fighting against that you can not seem to win, then perhaps you need to start with prayer.  Remember that God tells us to take the whole armour of God, and that means to fight against the strongholds we must start with prayer.

Romans 8:37 We are conquerors.

Romans 8:37 images pictures quotes

“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.”

When I was younger there was a song, we would sing in our youth group called “We Are More than Conquerors” This was a song to remind us that with God’s help, we could not only conquer in the spiritual fight, but we could thrive in our lives with the power of God. Both the Old and New Testaments are full of examples of prayer warriors who show us how to live a life of prayer.

The strong prayer warrior will conquer in the fight against the devil.  We don’t have to live in fear as a victim. We are on the side of the King of Kings. We have to stand tall and refuse to be afraid. The power of prayer makes us warriors, not victims. When we need to find a refugee in the fight of our life, we find the refugee in prayer.

There have been so many times as a wife and parent that I have needed to retreat from a situation and spend time in prayer before I return to the situation. The Christian life is full of times in our daily walk when we need to pray for wisdom. Daily prayer should be part of our daily bread of spiritual food.
