I spend the month of October in prayer in preparation for Halloween. The 31st of October is the one night of the year when Satan and evil spirits seem to be working overtime.
If you are looking for a Halloween prayer here are six things, you can be praying for this fall season. As October 31st grows closer pray these prayers every day.
May God bless your family and may the power of God be seen through your life.
Psalm 140:1 God will keep us safe.
Deliver me, O LORD, from the evil man: preserve me from the violent man.
Father, bring our children home in safety. Many of our youngest family members are out on the street today. Keep them safe from traffic accidents, and people who would do them harm.
God, this is a time when we hear of kidnappings of people. Protect our children on this Halloween night as they go door to door getting their favorite candy. And bring them home at the end of the night.
As our older children attend Halloween parties help them to make choices that honor your name. Help them to avoid the way of the heathen, on this night full of worldly temptation.
Give us a pure heart In the name of the only true God, Amen
2 Corinthians 5:20 We can show the world the power of Jesus’ name.
We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us.
Dear God, on this dark day the world celebrates the opposite of God. On this night death is celebrated. But as Christ’s people, we know that the name of Jesus is the only thing worthy of praise. Give us the strength to have faith and trust in you, God.
On this night we have the opportunity to talk to many neighbors we would not normally talk to, and open up conversations so we can build relationships to continue for the rest of the year.
God, I pray the Holy Spirit will give me the right words to say as I speak to my neighbors. Help me show your love, and demonstrate your compassion.
I pray this in the name of the Only true God, Jesus Christ. Amen.
Deuteronomy 31:6 We don’t need to be afraid, God is with us.
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.
Father God, this is a time when the world will highlight evil. This can cause many to fear. As we tuck our children into bed give us the words to say to them to help them sleep in peace.
We pray the blood of Jesus over our household and we know that you will keep us safe. We have no reason to fear. We praise you, God. In the name of your Son Jesus Christ. Amen
Leviticus 19:9-10 Our local community will love each other.
I am the Lord your God. Right from the beginning, God instructed His people to help others, take care of the poor, and be mindful of people in their community. We were not meant to be alone.
Dear Lord Jesus Christ, this is a time when our community comes together. For the Christian community, this is important. This is a time of year when my neighborhood all come out of their homes and meet together.
I ask you God that you will allow this love and openness’ in our little community to continue through the year.
Mighty God, I know you are the one that the families in my town need. You are the ever-living God, and I am honored to be used by you as a light in my community.
As families spend time together on this night help them avoid all this dark world is offering them, and instead embrace the love you want for families.
I pray the blood of Jesus over my community, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
Matthew 9:37 Our local Churches will grow.
The harvest is abundant, but the workers are few. Therefore, pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest.
Our Good Lord, today our local churches are a place where God’s people meet to study the Bible and Worship God. Many families will be invited to our churches during this season. As families from our community visit our church, let them feel your presence and a welcoming spirit.
Help our churches as they prepare Halloween alternatives and give them your wisdom to create events that are Christ-centered, and bring you glory. Help us to always remember that everlasting joy is only found in your presence.

Romans 12:21 The enemy will be defeated.
Do not be overcome by evil but overcome evil with good.
O Prince of the heavenly host, I ask you today to Protect our families from the evil one. There are many evil forces at work in our world.
God, you have said that we can overcome our evil foe, and we can do that with good. This is a time when we can demonstrate to our community the good things you have for us.
I know only your name is powerful enough to defeat the works of darkness. We know this is a time of year when branches of the occult will perform occult-marked activities. But I trust in Jesus and the power of His blood.
Many will perform a Halloween ritual on this dark night. Demonic spirits have no power over you Jesus. I trust in your name to defeat all evil.
