I can only grasp what I am willing to understand. My wisdom comes from someone who engraved his commands and promises for me. A knowledge that excels when I dive into His Word and surrender my ways for Him.
1 Corinthians 8:2 – Prayer to obtain knowledge
“Those who think they know something do not yet know as they ought to know”
Father God, I believe to have it all figured out with the exact answers to my problems. Yet I fall into heartache, troubles, and setbacks. My life is unfulfilled when I turn away from you. I only learn what I yearn to understand from you.
Your ways are higher than my own. Christ never meant for my human knowledge to hold all the answers. I can only obtain knowledge when I surrender my pride and become willing to hear from you. You are always and will forever be my most outstanding teacher. Amen.
Proverbs 20:24 – Prayer to show me the right way
“A person’s steps are directed by the Lord. How then can anyone understand their own way?”
My steps are guided, and my hand is held by the God Almighty, who paves my way.
Father God, I still do not know my way. I need your guidance and direction to push me where I cannot take myself.
I am lost, and yet you always find me. I trust you to no longer understand the steps you ask of me. I now know better to follow where you lead my life. Your word continues to light my indecision and desperation for the knowledge of so much that only you hold. Amen.
Proverbs 4:19 – Prayer for enlightenment
“The way of the wicked is like deep darkness; they do not know over what they stumble.”
Dear Jesus, I am often blind to my ways. I am naturally flawed with the darkness that your light reveals. You reveal so much so generously, and yet it slaps me to the realization of my wicked ways.
Do your work in my life that so desperately needs your enlightenment. I stumble and fall and have repeated many wrongs that I sometimes cannot get right. Please open my eyes to see the lesson in my messes. I am walking out of this darkness and into my new season of life. Amen.
Matthew 7:7-8 – Prayer that I can receive your wisdom
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.”
I know so much already and continue to be amazed at so much more I ask for answers from you. When I ask, I receive; you lay it before me when I search. You hold no response from my reach and pour your wisdom into me.
I am overwhelmed by your goodness. You open many doors for me before I even dream of asking. You allow me to overfill with blessings and your knowledge as a follower of Christ. I hope to obtain as much as you are willing to give me.
Psalms 111:10 – Prayer to understand your perspective
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts have good understanding. To him belongs eternal praise.”
Dear Father, my fears for You have instilled what I know to be true of what you stand on. I stumble on following the laws you have for me. I turn back to them, understanding what I couldn’t comprehend before.
My faults have become lessons I can now appreciate that took me a long time to understand. Thank you for giving me great insight to view this world from your eyes. Your perspective is more significant than my own and so beautiful that it amazes me what I could never see before.
The more I become aware of and dive deeper into it, the more I fall in love with being your child. I am in awe of the almighty God I get to call father so undeservedly. Amen.
You created a world for me to explore and create my own perception. Then you broke my walls, removed what I thought I knew, and laid out your own ways for me to see. Your views are so beautiful and overwhelming for my mind to comprehend and bring down to my reality.
I was never meant to understand how big and incredible you are. Instead, my knowledge overflows and explodes in how much more I must learn and pivot through.
