Sickness has always revealed our weak spots in Christ. We cry out for help and sometimes become angry during the long process that seems to have no way out. Our God remains faithful while we face the storms that life overshadows us. May we use these moments to strengthen our marriages, homes, and relationship with God.
Psalm 121:1 : Keep your eyes to God, he will heal your husband
“I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come?”
Dear Lord, not only does my help come from you, but so does my lovely husband. The doctors are helping in the best way that they know how.
Yet it never eases either of us from the exhaustion and constant worry of what is to come next from this. His appointments and doctor check-ins only remind us of the grace you give us.
We move forward with hope and strength in our eyes that we will be the miracle percentage to walk out of this. I declare healing and protection over my husband today and every day.
May he never feel empty enough to question the story you have marked for him. Remind him that there is nothing that his God cannot do. His sickness doesn’t define him.
His walk with Christ does. How he allows this season to affect him will also give insight into how my husband’s heart looks.
My dear husband is a warrior you have built from the most difficult time in situations. Please protect my husband as he learns to identify and return to who he was in Christ before this. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
1 Corinthians 6:12 : Nothing can hold your husband down, God will rise him up
“All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are helpful. “All things are lawful for me,” but I will not be dominated by anything.”
Almighty Father, I lift my husband’s health to you now. His body is reaping the cause of bad choices he has made with the food he has taken for many years. A decision that he did not see as weighing heavy in the future.
Please help him to see that his body is a temple of the Holy Spirit. Let him turn his lifestyle over to you by feeding his soul and body the nutrients you have grown from the beginning of time.
May he honor you with his body by taking steps to change his lifestyle. Many things are dominating him, and I rebuke that in your name.
Allow him to flee from this sinful way of living and honor you with the vessel you have blessed him with. Let him see that each small choice he makes will keep or deceive you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
2 Corinthians 12:9 : The power of Christ will heal your loved ones
“ But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”
Dear God, I am coming to you so vulnerable. I have not spoken out these words for fear of being judged.
My hubby’s sickness has taken a toll on, of course, him, but me also. I am his caregiver alongside more already typical responsibilities and now picking up what he once was responsible for.
Our home and kids now rely on one parent instead of bouncing off the two of us. I don’t want to come to you with complaints, but I need to release this.
May your grace be sufficient for me to push through and hold the weight of our household on my own. I ask for your strength and grace every step of the way to give myself and be the best spouse I can be during this time.
Your power is perfect in my weakness, which assures me we will be okay. Rest your hands on me, God, to provide me the comfort that no other man can. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Philippians 1:27 : I am firm in one spirit
“Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel.”
Lord Jesus Christ, let our actions show that we continue to serve and honor you even in our most dire circumstances. We may sometimes slip up and fall, but we will actively pursue you in our hard time.
We need you more now than ever to give us compassion and gentleness with one another as we face opposite sides of the spectrum for a caregiver and a sick, hospitalized individual.
May we remain firm in one spirit, working hard to contain this unique bondage between us.
Our feet will stay planted on the foundation we have built on hope and faith, joining as one. May this sickness never steal the joy and love we have found in Christ Jesus. We know he works for us even when we cannot feel him. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Galatians 6:9 : Do not give up hope that God will heal your spouse
“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.”
Dear God, I feel beaten down and exhausted from our current season. It’s getting harder to cling to your hope when our days are filled with tumbling circumstances, bills, and piling household chores.
Everything seems to be falling on my shoulders, and it’s taken a toll on me and my marriage. I know it’s unfair to feel such harsh feelings toward my spouse when he is battling a disease that I wish would disappear.
I don’t want to come to you with complaints but with a messy life that only you could understand. I’m leaning on a gracious God who matters and can lift this weight off of me with a good outcome.
There has to be a reaping season at the end of this. I remember our vows as I stick by his side in sickness and health. I have never thought of leaving his side, but I’m praying that I will make it out on the other side stronger and wiser. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Deuteronomy 4:29-31 : God will never leave you and your husband
“But from there you will seek the Lord your God and you will find him, if you search after him with all your heart and with all your soul. When you are in tribulation, and all these things come upon you in the latter days, you will return to the Lord your God and obey his voice. For the Lord your God is a merciful God. He will not leave you or destroy you or forget the covenant with your fathers that he swore to them.”
Dear Heavenly Father, draw my husband back to you. As many of us do, he has seemed to drift further from you when facing trials. His problems turn into endless solutions that don’t include you but seem to be a quick fix.
An answer without you is deemed to fail. I’m praying for spiritual healing for my spouse but keeping my distance to allow him the space he needs to see you again.
May he always turn back to you regardless of how far he explores the desires of his flesh. I see he is hurting and searching for answers that the world continues feeding him.
Lead him back to the light of your path and see the glory that can only come from you. Soften his heart to obey you and return to you with open arms. You are so merciful even in the long days we neglect you and fight our way back. Thank you for being the truth. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Proverbs 24:10 : We will not crumble and God will help him get stronger
“If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small.”
Lord God, the devil prowls on any opening of weakness that my spouse shows. He is a provider and protector of our family.
His world is crumbling down when the medical bills pile alongside our regular bills and household essentials. His joy is stolen from his hardworking method of expecting victory in return.
May he face adversity with his head held high and his strength ready for war. It’s troubling to see my husband face his battles alone when I cannot help with financial contributions. Grant him a spiritual healing that only you can perform on him.
Our one household income is trying for both of us, especially my hubby. I plead for your way out of this and for us not to lose one another amid financial troubles. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Exodus 15:26 : The Lord is our healer
“Saying, “If you will diligently listen to the voice of the Lord your God, and do that which is right in his eyes, and give ear to his commandments and keep all his statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you that I put on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, your healer.”
Dear Jesus, you are a healer and redeemer. I’m asking you to lay your healing hands on my husband with perfect harmony. He has been battling this chronic illness for some time, and I now see the hope being drained out of my husband.
Please give him your life-giving power to push through this battle and fight a little longer. He has been faithful to follow your commandments and never to question your plan for him alongside this road.
Grant him your strength and power to know your glorified day is coming for him. May he be healed in your name instantly. Allow him to find some breakthrough from this disease.
Let your light shine on him and refill his energy back within him to perfect health. He is a fighter, and I can feel you coming to transform his disease into a testimony for others. I declare this for him and our family. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Psalm 103:2-3 : God heals every disease
“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases.”
Lord Jesus, you are more than capable of healing every disease. Touch my hubby, who is battling an unknown sickness. May every doctor who walks into his room is provided the wisdom only you can give to identify and strategize a plan of action for his treatment.
I ask that his medical team is compassionate and knowledgeable to find precisely what he needs during his care. We are standing on Your Word to remove this disease and understand what You have intended for us to learn in this season.
May this hospital room be filled with the power of healing. I speak life into my sick spouse, who is scared and gripping for any answer of reason. You have healed every disease, and I know this will also be true for us.
Let him remember every season you have lifted him and overcome his weakness. We acknowledge every pit you have brought us out of and every blessing that only explains you behind it. Let your Holy Spirit fill this room and touch those handling my hubby. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Matthew 8:2-3 : Jesus’ healing hands
“ And behold, a leper came to him and knelt before him, saying, “Lord, if you will, you can make me clean.” And Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, “ I will; be clean.” And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.”
Dear Jesus, touch my husband with your healing hands as you have done for many centuries. You have touched those and healed them within that same instant of touch. I am looking at the first place your healing hands were documented.
I cling to these verses that hold the truth and power of what you are capable of. I plead this over my spouse and that you will cure him of every sickness. He surrenders himself for your ability to move through him.
May he feel your touch as intensely as he does the constant aches and pains he battles daily. I believe in your miraculous healing power and that you will bring my hubby back to excellent health.
His health needs more than doctor recommendations and plans of action. He needs you alone and the comfort and strength you give. We rely on you, Father, in our time of need.
His doctors are prepared and have given him the best treatment during our stay. I know these small joys are worth documenting that your hand is in our devastating seasons.
Let your will be over my husband’s health, mind, and soul. As we know all of these work together in Christ, but they also have the weight of carrying us or destroying us on how well we listen and serve our temples. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Exodus 23:25 : He heals us blessing our food
“You shall serve the Lord your God, and he will bless your bread and your water, and I will take sickness away from among you.”
Dear Father, our eyesight has not been taken away from you. If anything, we plead and seek you out longer in hopes of receiving your mercy and grace during this time. I attempt to comfort my dear husband, but I know those are shoes you can only fill.
My love and grace for him have no comparison when I stand next to you. I ask that you give him every ounce of mercy and endless adore he needs. You are a God who has healed thousands, and I know that he will be healed by your touch soon enough.
May every food my wonderful husband intakes be beneficial and healing. He is limited to a diet restriction intended to heal and do no further damage. Let your work be in this process as his body recovers from feeding himself beneficial foods.
I rebuke this sickness from spreading and attempting an attack. Cast away every inflammation that has been triggered from an unknown source. Heal my husband immediately or over time, whichever you have planned for him. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Jeremiah 30:17 : He will restore your health
“For I will restore health to you, and your wounds I will heal, declares the Lord, because they have called you an outcast: ‘ It is Zion, for whom no one cares!’”
Heavenly Father, heal those who are suffering in silence. May I hear your voice when I come across those who are in their time of weakness and still have a smile remaining on their face.
They may not have others who are close to you and can speak your word over their life. I hope to pray over them with loving care and lend a hand in their time of need.
May you restore better health to this individual and heal every open wound on them. Holy Spirit guide me to be a messenger from you, spreading hope to those seeking answers from you.
Only you know their cause of sickness and how long they have been carrying this alone. I want to touch someone today who needs a friend in Christ to lead the way today. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Matthew 4:23 : Jesus spread the gospel through his healing hands
“ And he went throughout all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction among the people.”
Almighty god, may your healing touch pour over every person in this room. Let your mighty work touch those who have never been introduced to you. As you did in Galilee, every healing took place from disease to harmful addictions.
I declare that you will move in this room silently and profoundly so each person can know it’s you and only you, God. Let them learn your name as you heal them from things they were told could not be cured.
May you touch every sick and broken person today. We all need you. Whether it’s a spiritual or physical sickness, your help and healing are wanted.
I will share the truth of your word today with each person I speak to, hoping to shed light on your promises of healing. Use me here today for your kingdom and to draw those in need closer to you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Psalm 6:2 : His grace is upon me
“Be gracious to me, O Lord, for I am languishing; heal me, O lord, for my bones are troubled.”
Gracious Father, I am standing before a sick friend along with many who are weak and ill. Each person continues to smile while knowing their time is running short.
Be gracious with their time and allow me to impact someone, if not everyone, here today. Use me today to answer the prayer for someone wanting to discuss their worries and troubles.
May I speak the words directly from you to let them know you are waiting for them in eternal life. They are welcomed into your kingdom and will be rejoiced with angels singing for them.
Please help me to quiet their fears and to shine a light on the view of your great mercy. Let their trouble bones rest, for they will soon see you in perfect peace. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Conclusion
In our sickness and good health, we realize the loss we are at when we allow illness to strain our relationship with you. May we never let the devil creep into our worries and fears again in an attack to replace you. We want more of you, Jesus.
